Gramm Wetland Educational Area Project Hwy 175, Onawa, Iowa

In February 2004, Royce Gramm and family donated 211 acres of land to Sioux Rivers RC&D that they had enrolled in the Wetland Reserve Easement Program. Sioux Rivers RC&D, Inc. is not a government agency, but rather a non-profit corporation which owns the 211 acres privately. Plans are in progress to restore the land to a natural wetland functioning state. Our hopes are to make it available for public tours, class field trips, limited youth hunting and environmental monitoring projects.

Future operational funds for this project will come from the RC&D Board and public donations from local supporters of this effort. To make a tax-deductible donation, please clink on our ‘Donations’ tab located on our home page. From there you may print out our Donation Form and mail that in along with your donation, so that we know which project you wish to support. We will send you a receipt for your donation so that you may claim this on your taxes. You may also contact our office by phone (712)943-7882 or by clicking on one of our email links to may a pledge for donation to any of our current projects.

On May 1, 2007, Cargill Cares Foundation made a generous $50,000 donation to Gramm Wetlands to be used for earthwork to develop the wetland and also for a water supply for wetland stability and to create a parking area and shelter house.
